A wedding that was full of sunshine and joy – sounds cheesy, but it’s true! One of their officiants shared stories of Landon and Katie from their younger years, with enough critique of the groom to get the crowd laughing, but ended it with the hope they have for their future because they share the same small town roots. It’s almost like a sweet made for TV movie, except it’s all true! They went to high school together, didn’t finally start dating until college, share the same hard working ethic, and love to laugh together. They want to grow old together, have kids, stay close to family in southwest Iowa, but want to travel too. Sweet dreams for the future, mixed with plenty to laugh about later on since I’m fairly certain all of the guests will never forget it as the wedding where the unity candle wouldn’t light! It was quite the day! Congrats to Katie & Landon! Thank you for the honor of capturing the start of your happily ever after!
We started off at Katie’s parent’s beautiful home in small town Lenox.  Her beautiful dress was found at Weddings by Design in Des Moines.
Katie had her mother’s wedding dress and her grandmother’s wedding dress out for a photo – I LOVE this idea of incorporating family heirlooms!!!

These beautiful invitations set the tone for their day. Â Florals by CamBam Custom Floral.
While the girls were getting ready, the guys were finishing up a round of pool.
Their front porch was the perfect spot for portraits!
Around the corner from their driveway was this perfect treelined pathway – the most picturesque spot for a first look!
This spot and this light was the perfect location for their wedding portraits.
Katie and Landon were married at the same church that Katie’s parents had their wedding! Â This tiny church was crowded with their closest friends and family, all eager to celebrate the newlyweds.
And now we come to the infamous candle lighting. Â This candle was used at one of their parent’s weddings, and so the wick had burned down quite a bit. Â Eventually the officiants stepped in to give a bit of assistance. Â All was not lost – the candle lit, and unity is celebrated with a few good laughs!
We stopped by a nearby lake for a few more fun portraits of the bridal party and the happy couple!
Don’t let any of the cake frosting go to waste – it was yummy!
Congrats to Katie and Landon!
